Fujifilm X10 & X100s – Worth the buy or a waste?

Shopping for a birthday gift last week I came accross the Fujiflim X10 which had been reduced.I’ve been looking for a compact camere for as long as I can remember. What made me lose sleep over this camera is that it’s only function is MANUAL.

Why just Manual function?
We all know that I am a control freak so the manual function is great for me. Without all the other shooting modes, you then have more space for other things.

Fujifilm X10 specifications

  • 12MP 2/3 EXR CMOS sensor
  • 28-112mm equivalent F2.0-F2.8 lens
  • Optical viewfinder
  • Manual control
  • Raw shooting
  • Continuous shooting up to 7fps at full resolution
Price: £320.00

Additional specifications to the Fujifilm X100s

  • 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor
  • On-sensor phase detection autofocus
  • Full HD 1080/60fps movie records

Which would you go for?

  1. Manual every time – caveat: it all depends on the style of photography but, some of the iconic images in photography have been taken with very basic cameras.

Sometimes its very hard to justify the money to be spent on all these new cameras. Looking forward to going manual. Hard to choose a specific camera though

      1. X100….
If I could justify yet another camera, this is the one I would love.
But it would only come after I find a good Nikon ‘F’ (my Wife would say “but you have the F2, 3 & 4 – how many do you need) 🙂

I am still shooting digital and still hesitant on which manual camera to go with. Keeping an out on Nikon F3 and Pentax K1000 on ebay. Am not used to buying cameras online so I haven’t made the leap yet.

      3. Keep an eye open for the F3 and unless your eyes are bad then you do not need an F3 HP as it only allows one to view at a distance – the camera is the same for both models. They are relatively cheap and there is an unlimited choice of lenses !
Scanner, changing-bag and film developing tank – all done in the bathroom or kitchen 🙂
