First conceptual image – Feedback greatly appreciated

For about a year now, I’ve been wanting to add some meaning to my images. Instead of second guessing myself, I’ve decided to get started. After all it is a new year.

I’ve been pondering on adding some conceptual images to my portfolio. It does not mean that in any way that I would give up architecture, it just means that I will be adding another dimension to my architectural work.

Although I am familiar with photoshop, I do not know all of it’s ins and out so this will just be a natural progression of my work.

Today I am sharing with you my first ever conceptual image. I will not be telling you the reason this image was created but I still need your help.

I want you to come on this journey with me and tell me what you think. I would be grateful if you can take some time to answer a few question for me.

  1. What comes to your mind when you see this image?
  2. What words come to your mind?
  3. Does it make you feel anything?
  4. Do you see any technical errors?

Thank you so much for your help…..

I don’t think you need the ‘?’ marks, becsuse it’s an image that says:
    I’m deep in thought.
    I’m fed up!
I want peace & quiet and this is the only place I can get it.

Just my interpretation, it could be completely off what you had in mind, but you did ask. 🙂

Thank you so much for the feedback. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with the emotions I was trying to convey really. Why do you think the question marks are not needed?

      1. My first thought was that you were using a new form of strange ‘watermark’ then I read your narrative. 😎 (I’m an engineer, we are well known for not reading instructions)
Then I thought, if I’m going too feel emotions I don’t need the question mark, the persons demeanour says it all.

Definitely makes it clear and I see what you mean. Thank you so much

        Hi. Beautiful work here!

I think the question marks “tell too much”. Let the image speak for itself, which I think it does quite well already without the question marks.

I like the low-contrast curve you’re using. Black isn’t totally dark, and highlights aren’t very bright. The bit of fog on his sweater over his left shoulder could be toned down… do you want him to be disappearing into the fog/distance or do you want him to “pop” from the background? Right now, it’s sorta both….

        My two cents.

IMO the question marks aren’t necessary … it doesn’t work and it’s disruptive.

And my feelings of this photo? It reminds me one iconic photo from Tomki Nemec of the Czech ex-president Vaclav Havel.

    It was a masterpiece.
